There are some beautiful neighborhoods in Larnaca that deserve to be explored whether you are a tourist or local. Larnaca, the third largest city in Cyprus, has 6 municipalities and 53 communities. The 6 municipalities are Aradippou, Athienou, Dromolaxia-Meneou, Larnaca, Livadia and Lefkara. Each neighborhood offers its own culture and many are famed for particular cuisine.
We have decided to explore some of the most popular neighborhoods in Larnaca. These communities include Aradippou, Livadia, Pervolia and Drosia. If you are planning to relocate to Larnaca then this will give you the perfect idea of what the area has to offer.
Aradippou
This town is one of the largest neighborhoods in Larnaca. With over 20,000 residents, Aradippou received township in 1986. The town is known for its numerous churches and chapels, including Apostle Loucas Church, one of the oldest in the town.
Although Aradippou was previously known as a farming village it has grown into a well-recognized area for many Cypriots. It is easily accessible for any visitors as it is situated near the Larnaca-Nicosia motorway and only a short drive from the main beaches in the city.
If you are planning to relocate to Larnaca then Aradippou would be worth looking at; one of Larnaca’s most renowned private schools, PASCAL, is located here.
Livadia
Our next neighborhood in Larnaca is Livadia. Famous for its relationship with basketry, UNESCO has even included Livadia’s basketry craft to its Intangible World Heritage List. This municipality is found on the north side of Larnaca, bordering Oroklini and is a prime spot for real estate. The town has a small population of 7,205, making it ideal for anyone looking for a close community feel to their neighborhood and has seen a growth in development in recent years.
Pervolia
Pervolia, a coastal village, is renowned for its fertile soil and productive trees. Visitors praise its hospitality and beaches, making it an ideal location for anyone who wants to live outside the city. The small village of Pervolia is occupied by just over 3,000 people but sees up to 5,000 people a day when tourists visit its beaches. Although property is harder to come by in Pervolia, it is worth the wait if you are set on living in a peaceful and picturesque location.
Drosia
Finally, we have Drosia. This neighborhood is part of the city of Larnaca and is considered by locals to be part of the Larnaca center, much closer to the city than Pervolia so ideal for anyone who works in Larnaca and does not like to travel. This area is arguably the most popular within the district of Cyprus and selling, buying or renting property here can be slightly easier than other areas. Drosia has all the amenities you could need including restaurants, schools, bars and is where the general hospital is located.
Conclusion
Even at a glimpse you can understand why these 4 areas in Larnaca are excellent neighborhoods. Each offers its own specialty whether it be its historical basketry making or the ideal location for inner city living.
